:- 3.0 out of 5 stars from Amazon Customer -- Too hard for target audience : So far we've only done Pikachu, which is the easiest Pokemon in the book (the book arranges the projects in order from easy to hard), and it was hard. The book cover says it's for ages 6+, but my 8.5yo struggled a lot and there were 2-3 spots *I* had serious trouble figuring out what to do. The only way this book is appropriate for a 6yo is if the 6yo has been an origami fanatic for quite a while. ( Reviewed in the United States on April 2, 2016 )

The directions are a little hard without an adult helping, but it's great family time! It comes with some origami paper in the back of the book already so you can use it right away! The pages have wonderful detail and they're a decent challenge. The complexity of the fold and alignment with the printed elements make this fun. Children could do it, but I think to make them look like the cover takes a bit more dexterity and patience. I had a hard time giving it to her and might by another! It does require some adult assistance because there are a lot of steps for these cute pokemon! Just cut out of the book and fold! : These are fun to make and very cute when done! Instructions are very easy to follow. All you need is the book and a pair of scissors. However, it is Origami, so it could be quite frustrating if attempting to do with any children who haven't yet mastered cutting straight lines or folding straight lines. He is new to origami, and just a warning, some of these are very difficult for younger kids, I definitely had to help him and was fairly confused myself. I think we just need a little more time and practice and we'll be good to go. The pictures and instructions are very good, I think if we had more experience with origami we would have been fine. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Dr. George Sik -- From paper to Pikachu : This book is great fun and very absorbing for young and old alike - and Pokémon Go's launch this summer will have re-ignited interest in it. The Origami models of ten different Pokémon creatures are superb but actually quite complex and can occasionally be as frustrating to fold as...well, trying to track down a rare one in Pokémon Go! You only get one shot at each one unless you photocopy the folding paper pages and young children will definitely need a bit of help because it's harder than it looks, but it's wonderfully relaxing (much like the current craze for colouring books) and you get a real sense of achievement with each Pokémon you create. You could even carry your favourite one around with you like a physical Pokémon Go buddy - but watch that it doesn't blow away! ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 16, 2016 )
